Saffron and Lily, a clothing company started by Brampton sisters Puneet and Harneet, is shaking up the children’s clothing industry.

Saffron & Lily sells a lineup of culturally inspired South Asian bibs and onesies for newborns and toddlers up to 24 months.

S&L’s line of clothing is just like anything you’ll find in a regular children’s clothing store, but with the added twist of sayings, phrases and expressions that are grounded in South Asian culture.

“Our main inspiration were the little ones in our lives. My sister and I noticed that the selection for South Asian-based clothing was limited and we were having a hard time finding variety, says co-founder Harneet.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a children’s clothing store anywhere that offers anything outside the typical offering, but Saffron and Lily fills the gap nicely.

“Having been raised in Brampton, we also wanted to create something that young, Canadian-born South Asian parents could relate to; something for the next generation to retain cultural expression in a fun, fashionable way.”

Eventually Saffron & Lily has plans to expand to offer a wider range of items in sizes for children up to six years old. No doubt, their collection will make shopping for baby showers and birthdays easier for so many of us.
