Brampton is getting funky Muskoka chairs

In honour of Canada’s 150th birthday, Brampton is receiving $105,000 in funding from the Federal government as part of the Canada 150 Fund. The Canada 150 Fund is giving communities across the country funding for various projects to celebrate the True North’s big birthday next year.

A part of Brampton’s $105,000 is going towards a fun new public art project: local artists will work together with school-aged children to paint Muskoka chairs based on four themes — diversity and inclusiveness, the environment, young people, and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

It isn’t clear yet whether the Muskoka chairs will be placed primarily downtown, or whether they’ll be placed across the city.

The project will kick off in early 2017.
