Brampton has officially unveiled four new solar-powered electric car charging stations.

The new stations, the first of their kind in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas, are located at the Brampton Soccer Centre.

The city received $90,000 in funding to build the stations as part of proceeds from the province’s new Cap and Trade program implemented earlier this year.

Proceeds will go towards building more stations across the region including additional units scheduled for installation at Springdale Library, and the Gore Meadows Community Centre and Library later this year.

This brings Brampton’s car charging stations up to 33 units at 10 locations across the city.
