Brampton Library’s new Local Authors Showcase is designed to recognize published authors living in Brampton, Caledon, and Mississauga by featuring their books in the library starting this August.

Authors are invited to submit a maximum of three of their books published between 2012 and 2017. All who submit must be Brampton Library cardholders in good standing.

Submissions will be accepted between May 1 and July 31, 2017. The first Local Authors Showcase display will be unveiled as part of Brampton Library’s After Hours Book Bash on Friday, August 18, beginning at 6:30 pm. This event is also the wrap-up of the organization’s Adult Summer Reading Club.

According to June Dickerson, Marketing and Communications Manager, this new initiative is designed to promote local authors with increased prominence by presenting their works together in one display to bring greater attention to the books in the library’s collection.

All genres are eligible for submission including fiction, non-fiction, poetry collections, and graphic novels/comic books. Adult, teen, and children’s books are all included.

Titles selected for this program will be featured at Brampton Library’s Chinguacousy Branch in the Civic Centre (150 Central Park Drive) for a full year and will also be part of Brampton Library’s circulating collection for a full year.

Even though the books will be featured at the Chinguacousy Branch, books can be transferred to one of the five other Brampton Library branches by user request.
