Two Brampton men have been charged with kidnapping a man whom they held for four hours before driving him to Mohawk Slots and Raceway in Milton.
Gurvinder Dhillon, 31, and Amninder Jahjj, 26, face 14 charges, including kidnapping, extortion, assault with a weapon, drug possession, and possession of stolen property.
Their victim, who remains unnamed, was also charged with breach of probation and breach of an undertaking. He was arrested by Halton police for allegedly giving the investigators a false name when he was found. As it turns out, he was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant in Toronto released into the custody of Toronto police.
According to reports, Dhillon and Jahjj forced their 24-year-old victim into the back seat of a stolen, dark-coloured Dodge Charger in a Brampton Walmart parking lot at some point on Thursday, May 3.
Halton Regional Police said the kidnappers roughed up their victim with a “makeshift weapon” and a knife before taking him to Mohawk Slots and Raceway at around 9:25 p.m. They held him for four hours before he was able to escape and flag down security, who then contacted the police.
Police allege that not only do the victim and the suspects know each other, but also that he was kidnapped in an attempt to extort money from him.
