Brampton’s only Mauritian restaurant, La Marmite Mauricienne (also known as the Mauritian Pot) has closed its doors after a year in business.

The restaurant served up authentic cuisine from the island of Mauritius, which is located in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa.

The quaint little restaurant tucked away in Harmsworth Lane in downtown Brampton brought unique flavours to the local culinary scene with its fresh produce, spices and interesting concoctions of sauces.

As one of the only francophone restaurants in the city, it also served as a place for students to practice their French. Despite the sad news, the Mauritian Pot will continue offering catering and pre-orders. Find out more on its Facebook page.
