Despite the excessive cold that appears to have no end in sight, Brampton’s New Year’s Eve celebrations in downtown Brampton are still on.

Temperatures are expected to sink to -30°C on New Year’s Eve and it has prompted some cities in Ontario, including Ottawa, to cancel outdoor celebrations.

Brampton’s celebrations, however, are still happening as scheduled. The city plans to bring in more warming stations, including Brampton Transit buses, that members of the public can use to warm up.

The festivities kick off at 7 p.m. with a kid-friendly celebration and fireworks going on until 11 p.m.

Headlining the show will be the Sheepdogs, who take the stage at 10:40 p.m. Opening the show will be one of Brampton’s own, rapper Pryde. Pryde is preparing a special set list for the evening and will no doubt perform some of his hits inspired by this very city. He takes the stage at 8:25 p.m. Also performing are Dublin to Delhi, an electronic, hip hop and bhangra group, and The Downturns, an indie rock band.

In addition to a full lineup of performances, there will be marshmallow roasting, skating, fireworks and more in and around the downtown area. Check out the full schedule of events
