High winds yesterday caused a commercial transport truck to flip yesterday at a major intersection in Brampton, sending the driver to the hospital.

The incident happened Wednesday evening at around 6 p.m. in the area of Dixie Road and Steeles Avenue, keeping the intersection closed for a number of hours.

Peel Police said the truck flip was caused by high winds.

The driver of the rig was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Though no other injuries were reported, the ferocious winds even took down trees and damaged some homes in Brampton.
