Peel Police are warning residents of fake traffic ticket notices that are being emailed and texted.
The email claims that the recipient has been detected with a traffic infringement for negligent driving.
The email prompts the recipient to click on a link to see ‘photo proof’. It also displays an amount owing, varying anywhere between $200-$500.
Police are reminding people to avoid clicking on unknown links. They are also advising anyone who has fallen victim to the scam to report it by calling 905-453-3311.
