Summer is officially here, and in no time we’ll be searching for ways to beat the heat.

Brampton has no shortage of public pools to visit when you’re looking to cool down, but only a beach can bring summertime vibes that make you forget that you’re in the middle of the GTA.

For those times you want to hit the sand but forego the long drive, here are five beaches within a mere 30 minutes of Brampton:

Heart Lake Conservation Area, Brampton

Enjoy swimming, boating, or fishing on the lake. You can also take a quick run through the splash pad, dip in the pool, go treetop trekking and zip lining, take a beautiful hike, and have a family picnic.

Professor’s Lake Recreation Centre, Brampton

This popular lake includes a beach with swimming area, fishing spots, water slide, beach volleyball courts, boathouse (paddle boat, canoe, kayak and stand-up paddle board rentals are available), food concessions, and a lakeside pathway for walking, biking or inline skating.

Kelso Lake, Milton

Enjoy swimming, boating, stand-up paddle-boarding, or canoeing in the lake, as well as hiking, camping, picnicking, biking, and movie nights under the stars.

Marie Curtis Park, Etobicoke
