The much-anticipated, state-of-the-art Springdale library and neighbourhood park finally have opening dates.

The work on the library space and park, which will be located at the northeast corner of Bramalea Road and Dewside Drive, now has a soft opening date in December.

The library was slated to open this past Spring, but the project faced delays. Now the city has confirmed a new opening date of January 2018, with the neighbourhood park to open in Spring 2018.

Currently, crews are completing interiors and glass installations, and preparing finishing touches on the landscaping of the park.

The space will have 20,000 square feet of dedicated library space and 5,000 square feet of multi-purpose rooms for community use.

The $17 million project will include new outdoor space, too: a community park with children’s play equipment, a splash pad, and a reflection garden. It’s also slated to have geothermal heating and a green and white roof.
