The city launched construction on a new activity hub within the 100-acre Creditview Park in northwest Brampton last year, and it’s slated to be completed this summer.
The project is called the Creditview Activity Hub and it’s going to be a huge, 8,000 square meter playground with some pretty cool features.
According to the city, it will be “fully accessible, inclusive and AODA-compliant”, which means that truly everyone can enjoy the new park space.
The area, which is even bigger than Chinguacousy Park, has been undergoing construction since 2004 in various phases. This latest phase will add a bunch of new elements including:
- Inclusive play environments for children
- innovative spaces for seniors
- swings
- bounce wall
- basketball
- 4-square and hopscotch
- inclusive and themed splash pad, with customized and interactive waterplay elements
- shade shelter
- picnic area
- seating areas
- interpretive and educational signage
The park is going to be pretty sustainable too. Water runoff from the splash pad will be captured and re-used to irrigate the adjacent soccer fields, promoting water and energy conservation.
The park is expected to be completed and open to the public this summer, though the City of Brampton hasn’t announced an official date. Stay tuned to Bramptonist for updates as they become available.
