Sul Irmaos Smokehouse, one of the city’s most popular restaurants for years, announced in late 2017 that they’d be closing their doors for good in downtown Brampton in favour of running a food truck.

The well-loved restaurant served up a fusion of Southern and Portuguese flavours in the form of smoked meats, po’boy sandwiches and other delicious bites. Everybody was pretty shook after they announced they’d be closing.

Sul Irmaos solidified itself as a city staple after appearing on the Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here, and it was pretty devastating to their regulars to see them go.

Thankfully just before closing, they announced they’d still have a food truck, and now they’re launching Throwback Thursdays, a weekly pop-up in Brampton where they’ll be slinging some of their most popular dishes.

If you loved their fantastic flavour profiles and perfectly smoked meats, you’ll be able to enjoy them again every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 1272 Queen Street West.

The food truck menu has their famous Portuguese chicken, a handful of their most popular po’boys, including the epic Turkey and Waffles, packed with turkey, waffles, a spicy gravy, collard greens and more.

They’ll also have their ATBs, which are stuffed jalapenos wrapped in smoked bacon with a smoky aioli for dipping.

Get to eating, Brampton!
