Ever since it was revealed that some Tim Horton’s locations might cut worker benefits, breaks and tips after the recent jump in minimum wage, labour advocates and consumers alike have been in an uproar.

Protests have happened across the Greater Toronto Area, and now one is planned for Brampton, too.

Two Toronto groups, Leadnow and Fight for $15 and Fairness, are arranging for a day of action to protest the coffee giant’s treatment of its employees since the increase in minimum wage to $14 per hour.

On January 19 a protest is taking place at the Tim Horton’s located at 624 Peter Robertson Blvd from 4 to 5 p.m.

Organizers also have planned protests at ten Tim Horton’s locations across Toronto and a bunch of others across Canada.

Tim Horton’s has attempted to defend itself by claiming “unauthorized statements” were made by “a reckless few” and does not reflect the company’s values or stance on the issue. Even so, public pressure hasn’t let up and some are even boycotting.

Details on all the planned protests can be found here.
