Kamal Khera, a Liberal Member of Parliament for Brampton West and the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development, has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Khera, who was tested Monday morning at Peel Memorial Centre, began to develop flu-like symptoms on Saturday night. She went into self isolation soon after with help from Peel Public Health and the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Khera released a statement on March 25. She assured others not to worry as she continues to serve her city as much as she can.

“While I am still experiencing symptoms, I am in good spirits. I know that many Canadians are in much worse circumstances,” says Khera. “I want to assure the constituents of Brampton West that I will continue to serve them as their MP and they can count on me to be back on my feet in short order. My office remains fully operational and my staff continue to work from home to ensure constituents are well supported during these unprecedented times.”
