Two of Brampton’s own, MC and spoken word artist Noyz and producer Dusty Loops, have sold out the biggest and most iconic venue in the city: the Rose Theatre.

The two have been working on an album that brings together their combined talent and the first reveal for the collab will be on September 29 in an evening of art and music.

The show will be one of the first of its kind to take over the city’s main theatre and marks a trend towards openness of the city’s institutions to more diverse forms of art and expression.

The evening is “dedicated to the dedicated who seek a fulfillment outside of the norm. That fulfillment can come from any number of avenues: for some, it is a business idea, and for others, it is through service to their community”.

For the two, their calling is music and photography. On the inspiration for the music and the album, the two say, “These are beats made on second-hand machines, with samples dug up and resurrected from the bottom of long-forgotten dollar-bin crates. Rhymes penned in the moments between life and earning a living”.

The listening party will be accompanied by a visual exhibit of original works of photography which provide a visual backdrop for the album’s themes. Photographs the pair say “represent the people, places, emotions, successes and failures that continue us along on this path towards our highest selves, which is a glory capable of all of us”.

The event will include an interactive Q&A session with the artists, which will be moderated by Rogers TV personality Nav Nanwa. While the Q&A is sold out, the public is still welcome to view the photography exhibit and hear the accompanying music.

“Over the past few years, Dusty and I have had the chance to showcase our music at some of the biggest festivals in Canada and the US, but it means so much more to do something at home in our own backyard. We always rep Brampton wherever we go, so to sell out at a landmark venue like the Rose Theatre feels like the city and the people here are showing us all that love and support right back,” says Noyz.

The duo has already seen its fair share of successes. Noyz has performed at some of North America’s biggest music festivals including SXSW, Canadian Music Week, and Manifesto. He’s also received features on CBC Music, Huffington Post, Complex and Noisey. Recently Noyz participated in Team Backpack’s Brampton Cypher with other local powerhouses like Pryde, Derin Falana, and Tremayne.

Dusty Loops has been producing and DJing since 2008, working with lots of up-and-coming artists across Canada. In 2015, he had the opportunity to learn from Young Guru, the sound engineer for the likes of Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Rihanna. Dusty has also received his fair share of love from music platforms including Complex, Noisey, Juxtapoz and others.
