The Canada Summer Jobs program just made it easier for young Canadians to have easy access to good quality jobs during the summer.

New changes have been made to the program which include:

  • expanding eligibility to all youth between the ages of 15-30 who are legally entitled to work in Canada—not just students
  • eligibility criteria changing for employers
  • Better job matching which means all jobs will be posted on jobbank.gc.ca, making it easier for young people to find good quality jobs

Each year, Canada Summer Jobs works with employers who come from small businesses, not-for-profit organizations and the public sector to help give young Canadians employment opportunities.

“Young Canadians are not just the leaders of tomorrow—they are leaders today. That’s why our government is focused on ensuring they get the skills and training they need to succeed,” says Patty Hadju, Minister of Employment of the Workforce Development and Labour Division. “Canada Summer Jobs is an incredibly important program for helping young people achieve this. Providing youth with opportunities for paid, meaningful work experience helps ensure they have a fair shot at success.”
