November 18, 2023 – In a united front against rising car theft rates, the Peel Regional Police and Crime Stoppers of Peel have thrown their support behind the Équité Association’s new partnership with Canadian Tire aimed at reducing and preventing crime, specifically car theft, in the region.
The Équité Association, a national organization committed to tackling insurance fraud and crime, has teamed up with Canadian Tire stores in Brampton to roll out a special promotion that empowers residents to protect themselves from the devastating impact of car theft.
From November 1 to November 30, 2023, residents of Peel Region can take advantage of a $20 discount on the Club Steering Wheel Lock, courtesy of a coupon provided by Équité. This initiative not only incentivizes the purchase of a vital anti-theft device but also serves as a tangible step toward building a safer community.
The Peel Regional Police X account stated “This coupon was developed to disrupt, & complicate the stolen auto industry.” And also “#PRP supports this initiative. @CanadianTire, in partnership with Équité, encourages residents to get this coupon at participating Canadian Tire locations to purchase The Club Steering Wheel Lock. Protect yourself from becoming a victim of car theft. #Brampton #Mississauga”
The Club Steering Wheel Lock has long been recognized as an effective deterrent against car theft, adding an extra layer of security to vehicles. By collaborating with Canadian Tire, a well-known and trusted retailer, the Équité Association aims to make this anti-theft device more accessible to the public.
Crime Stoppers of Peel, a vital community resource for anonymous crime reporting, has also thrown its weight behind the initiative. “@PeelCrimeStopp also supports this initiative. Community Safety is a shared responsibility. #Brampton #Mississauga #Caledon #SaferTogether” was posted to their X account on November 16, 2023.
Residents interested in availing themselves of the $20 discount on the Club Steering Wheel Lock can pick up coupons from Officers and Insurance Brokers, PRP Business partners and Collision Reporting Centres, and present them to participating Canadian Tire stores in Brampton during the promotional period.
The collaboration between the Peel Regional Police, Crime Stoppers of Peel, Équité Association, and Canadian Tire underscores the importance of community partnerships in creating a safer and more secure environment for all residents. Through proactive initiatives like these, Peel Region takes a step closer to achieving its goal of reducing and preventing crime.
