February 21, 2024 – Brampton’s bustling neighborhoods are gearing up for a new initiative aimed at fostering tighter-knit communities and safer streets. Now, following the release of Brampton’s Neighbourhood Association Guide, part of its Community Safety Action Plan, local neighborhood groups are invited to apply to be an Affiliated Neighbourhood Association.

So, what’s an Affiliated Neighbourhood Association? It’s a group of volunteers from the same neighborhood teaming up to make positive changes. These groups will get help from a City liaison through Brampton’s Community Safety and Well-Being Office. Plus, they could receive up to $1,500 from the new Nurtured Neighbourhood Grant for projects, events, meetings, and activities.

Why become an Affiliated Neighbourhood Association? Here are the benefits:

  • Feel Connected: Get to know your neighbors better.
  • Belonging: Build relationships and feel like you’re part of something.
  • Prettier Neighborhoods: Make your area more beautiful.
  • Safer Community: Work together for everyone’s safety.
  • City Recognition: Get noticed for making your community better and safer.

This program came from talks with residents who wanted support for neighborhood projects. Based on their feedback, this is the next phase of the Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program.

How to Apply

Neighborhood groups wanting to be Affiliated Neighbourhood Associations can apply before February 29, 2024, at 11:59 pm. Need help? Reach out to CSWO@brampton.ca.
