Armed Robbery causes disruption at three Brampton schools

At approximately 11:17 am, an armed robbery took place in the area of Great Lakes and Sailwind drive.

A 16 year old male was robbed by three males, one of whom had a knife. He was then punched in the face and the assailants fled the scene. The Tactical and Rescue Unit and the Canine unit of Peel Regional Police were deployed to the scene of the crime.

Due to this incident, at 11:30 a hold and secure took place at Harold M Brathwaite Secondary School, Great Lakes Public School and St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Elementary School.

The schools’ doors were shut in accordance to hold and secure protocol, so no one could enter or exit the buildings. Harold M Brathwaite students who were on lunch at the time were required to verify their identity before re-entering the school.

The schools were kept secured till 12:10 pm, at which point Peel Regional Police notified them that it was safe to return to regular activity.

21 division is currently handling the case. So far no suspects have been caught. The assailants are described to be 2 black males  and 1 white male, all approximately 25 years old. One was wearing a purple hoodie and the other was wearing jeans.
