Writers at the Rose by the Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD) and The Rose Theatre is coming back to Brampton. This time it will feature New York Times bestselling author Angie Thomas, author of the wildly popular The Hate U Give.

Thomas, a Mississippi author inspired in part by the Black Lives Matter movement, will talk about her new novel, On the Come Up. It’s the story of fighting for your dreams, even as the odds are stacked against you; and about how, especially for young black people, freedom of speech isn’t always free.

Thomas will participate in a conversation session with the CBC’s Amanda Parris and sign books after the event.

The Writers at the Rose Series highlights diverse voices in the literary world and showcases compelling authors from across the world coupled with high-profile moderators.

The session with Thomas happens on February 25, 2019 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and you can get tickets here.
