The Best Campgrounds Within an Hour From Brampton

Want to be at one with the great outdoors for a weekend and escape the bustling city without the hassle of a long drive up north? Here are six campgrounds within an hour’s drive from Brampton.

Indian Line Campground

Practically within the city’s borders, the closest campground to Brampton is Indian Line. It has RV and tent sites and as well as a pool. Probably its best feature is that it’s situated within walking distance of Wet ‘N’ Wild waterpark which recently got a $25 million makeover.

Albion Hills

There aren’t many conservation areas in the GTA that allow camping, but Albion Hills is one of them. Located up past Bolton and just a 30-minute drive from Brampton, the area boasts lots of mountain biking and hiking trails, and even a small beach. Keep in mind, these campsites aren’t completely secluded, so if you’re looking to avoid other humans at all costs this may not be the best spot for you.

Bronte Creek Provincial Park

Bronte Creek is located just outside of Oakville’s Lakeshore district and it’s a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle. The park is dotted with natural hiking trails and places to hop on your mountain bike. Once you’ve enjoyed the great outdoors, you can cool down with a swim in the massive on-site swimming pool.

Glen Rouge

Glenn Rouge is located just on the edge of Toronto and it’s stocked with amenities. The 100-site facility includes hiking trails, fire and barbecue pits, and even showers and laundry facilities. It’s well within Toronto’s borders so it’s also accessible by GO Transit and TTC for those who prefer not to drive.

Darlington Provincial Park

Darlington requires a drive east on the 401 which can be a bit hectic going into a weekend but it’s well worth it. The park’s scenic bluffs, large sandy beach, and walking trails will keep you well occupied.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park & Camp Resort

Jellystone is a great option if you want to keep busy and out of your tent. They have tons of family-friendly activities like mini putting, beach volleyball, wagon rides with Yogi and karaoke. Their pool is heated which is a huge bonus and the site is located just a 30-minute drive from Canada’s Wonderland so it’s not too far and has tons of activities for kids.
