The City of Brampton has announced three specialized task forces to help support the city’s economy and its vulnerable communities. These task forces are the COVID-19 Economic Support and Recovery Task Force, the COVID-19 Social Support Task Force, and the Seniors Support Task Force.

These three groups will be working alongside the City of Brampton’s Emergency Operations Centre and other city staff to help coordinate effective responses.

“While City Hall remains closed to protect Brampton residents and employees, council continues to work to ensure we are collaborating to support the local economy and vulnerable communities,” says Mayor Patrick Brown. “Together with our stakeholders, we are committed to minimizing the impact of COVID-19 in Brampton.”

The Mayor’s COVID-19 Economic Support Task Force will be headed by Michael Palleschi, Regional Councillor for Wards 2 and 6, and Paul Vicente, Regional Councillor for Wards 1 and 5. This group will be coordinating recommendations and measures to support business relief efforts in Brampton. Local stakeholders such as the Downtown BIA and Brampton Board of Trade will help support their efforts.

The Mayor’s COVID-19 Social Support Task Force will be led by Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor for Wards 1 and 5, and Jeff Bowman, Regional Councillor for Wards 3 and 4. This group will coordinate recommendations and responses to homelessness and food security to help give necessary social support to vulnerable communities in Brampton.

The Mayor’s COVID-19 Seniors Support Task Force will be co-chaired by Pat Fortini, Regional Councillor, Wards 7 and 8, and Gurpreet Dhillon, Regional Councillor, Wards 9 and 10. This specialized team will help coordinate access to information and resources that Brampton’s senior citizens need most during this time.
