January 17, 2024 – The spotlight is on Brampton’s local talent as the Brampton Arts Organization (BAO) and Brampton On Stage join forces to showcase the city’s creativity at the North by Northeast (NXNE) Music Festival in Toronto from June 12-16, 2024.
NXNE is a renowned discovery music festival that has been promoting emerging musicians and connecting audiences with new acts since 1995. With over 200,000 attendees every June in Toronto, this is a prime opportunity for Brampton artists to gain exposure on a larger stage.
The call is out for up to five artists or groups to represent Brampton on the prestigious NXNE stage. Are you a local artist with a passion for performing? This is your chance to shine!

For one unforgettable evening, Brampton artists will take over a venue in Downtown Toronto, each with a 40-minute set. The City of Brampton is offering artist fees to support and recognize the talent within the community.
The Opportunity
Selected artists will receive:
- Artist fees from the City of Brampton
- Venue rental, AV and technical support
- Marketing and communications planning and programming support
The City of Brampton will develop a tailored marketing plan for the event, including print, radio, digital out-of-home, social media, and email marketing. Artists are also expected to contribute to the promotion effort through their own marketing channels.
Selection Criteria
Proposals will be chosen based on artistic merit, impact, and viability. Priority will be given to applicants from equity-deserving groups.
Applicants must:
- Have demonstrated experience as a performing artist
- Demonstrate a strong connection to Brampton and the Peel Region
- Understand the unique opportunity the NXNE showcase represents
Artists must submit materials, including:
- Short show description
- Artist info and biographies
- High-resolution photos and links to social handles
