City moves in Rankings from #98 in 2022 to #18 in 2023.
January 26, 2023 – The City of Brampton has once again been recognized by Forbes as one of Canada’s Best Employers 2023. The city has earned this distinction for the fifth consecutive year and has climbed from the 98th position last year to the 18th spot in 2023.
Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to compile the annual list, surveying over 10,000 Canadians working for companies with more than 500 employees. Participants rated their organizations based on their willingness to recommend them to friends and family. They were also asked to nominate organizations other than their own.
“We are incredibly proud to be recognized by Forbes as one of Canada’s Best Employers for the fifth year! Each day, our dedicated employees show up and work tirelessly to build a community that is safe, inclusive, sustainable and successful. This repeated recognition of being an employer of choice for our staff speaks to their passion for delivering results for our community,” said Patrick Brown, Mayor of the City of Brampton.
Throughout 2022, the City of Brampton supported flexibility in where and when employees work, including options for remote work, flextime, job sharing, and compressed work weeks. This program is part of the Workplace Modernization initiative, which also includes space planning to accommodate flexible work options and support collaboration.
As part of the City’s commitment to incorporating diversity and inclusion principals in their policies, plans and hiring practices in 2022, the City:
- Partnered with Achēv, a local community organization, to offer a new way for youth to access networking and mentoring that will help them build connections to find meaningful career opportunities.
- Participated in more than 10 career fairs/networking events with community partners
- Hosted the first-ever Veterans Career Expo in partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15.
- Partnered with WorkTango, an independent third-party consultant, to conduct a confidential Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Workforce survey focusing on demographic, equity, diversity and inclusion data. This baseline level of data and understanding will allow the Corporation to incorporate accurate data into future policies, plans, initiatives and programs, and identify gaps.
“Our employees show up each day committed to making a meaningful difference in one of Canada’s fastest-growing, most diverse and largest cities of more than 650,000 people. Our team of over 6000 finds a shared purpose in fostering a workplace that is inclusive, innovative and engaging. Being recognized by Forbes and our employees for the fifth consecutive year as one of Canada’s Best Employers is a great honor, and I thank and congratulate our team at the City of Brampton,” said Marlon Kallideen, the City’s Chief Administrative Officer.
The City of Brampton is a dynamic and innovative place to work and experience, recognized as one of Maclean’s best communities in Canada.
