Royal wedding paraphernalia of all sorts has been popping up everywhere — from plates, and mugs to tote bags and swimsuits.
But perhaps one of the best odes to the soon-to-be-wedded couple, and one with a local connection, is a special tea blend made by Brampton company T By Daniel.
Owners Daniel and Renata Lewis did lots of experimenting and eventually settled on a chocolate strawberry blend called When Harry Met Meghan to celebrate the couple’s nuptials on May 19.
The blend is made with an Orange Pekoe base and has notes of chocolate, strawberries and Ceylon black tea. You’ll also notice a little bit of sparkle: the two added to the brew purple sprinkles to represent royalty and silver dragées to symbolize the festive occasion.
This isn’t Dan and Ren’s first experience with royalty. Last year they had the honour of serving their teas to Prince Charles on his Canada 150 visit to Ontario.
They created a whole new blend for that occasion, too. A strawberry, lemon and cornflower blend with black tea. They call it Polo With The Prince. They also served His Royal Highness their most popular tea the Lion Chai.
Prince Charles loved it so much that he sent the two a letter, and put in an order for more tea.
Now that the world is in full royal wedding mode, not only has T By Daniel’s When Harry Met Meghan blend flying off the shelves, it’s also getting them some major attention.
“This has been the hottest tea in years for us. Online orders are skyrocketing, people are driving from far just to get it,” Daniel told CP24 in an interview recently.
The two are even hosting a royal wedding viewing party on May 19 to celebrate the Royal Wedding. They will be serving up high tea, complete with lemon and elderflower cakelets, just like Meghan and Harry’s wedding cake, and of course their lineup of royal teas
