City signs seem to be infiltrating Canada lately. First Toronto, then Ottawa and now Brampton.

The Toronto sign popped up in Nathan Phillips Square for the Pan Am Games and has been a fixture ever since. Recently Ottawa installed a similar one in well-known downtown district, Byward Market.

Now Brampton is set to unveil a “My Brampton” sign at CeleBrampton, the city’s street festival happening downtown Saturday, June 10.

It isn’t yet clear where the sign will be installed, or whether it’s permanent, or will make its rounds at other Brampton events.

It definitely ups the city’s street cred, though. Brampton joins not just Canadian cities, but others around the world which have installed their own.

The trend started when Amsterdam’s “I Amsterdam” sign started popping up all over Instagram and became a popular tourist destination. Other cities like Lyon and Brooklyn have since followed suit.

What do you think about Brampton’s “My Brampton” sign? Will you be snapping selfies with it?
