Brampton’s Jeff Salem used to be a full-time musician, but COVID has meant a whole lot of cancelled shows so he had to figure out something else. He took his hobby and made it into a business, and that hobby? Making hot sauce.

You may have seen Salem at the Brampton Farmers Market this year, a picture of which you can see at the top of this article. Aside from the Farmers Market, he sells his hot sauces online and in some grocery stores so you may have seen some of the horror movie-inspired labels around.

On the Salem’s Lott Scary Hot Sauces website, Salem shares what inspired him: “As a professional musician, I have had the opportunity to tour and visit more than 70 countries sharing my love and passion for music to many audiences. My travels have led me to experience a variety of authentic cuisines & spices leading me on a mission to find the perfect hot sauce. With inspiration in my global  travels, I share with you my creation of hot sauces.”

Watch CBC’s Dragon’s Den on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 9 p.m. to catch Salem’s pitch on the air.
