Thanks to COVID-19, the City of Brampton is having its annual celebration of Pride online for 2020. In order to celebrate Brampton’s LGBTTIQQ2SA community there is an online hub with events all throughout Pride Week in Peel, from Sunday, July 5 to Saturday, July 11.

“Our diverse and inclusive city is gearing up to celebrate Pride Week in Peel with a range of exciting events online. While we can’t celebrate in person this year due to COVID-19, I encourage everyone to… enjoy the events, learn, and have fun,” said Mayor Patrick Brown.

July 8 – Inspirational Youth Speaker Series

Tune in to Instagram Live @culturebrampton at 7 PM for an inspirational talk from comedian and writer Brandon Ash-Mohammed.

Ash-Mohammed is recognized as a Just For Laughs Montreal Homegrown Talent, Tim Sims Award-nominated comedian, a Telefilm New Voices Award-winning writer, and the creator of The Ethnic Rainbow (Canada’s first & only comedy show for LGBT comedians of colour). Ash-Mohammed’s album, CAPRICORNICATION, debuted at #1 on the iTunes Canada Comedy charts and made him the first gay, Black Canadian to release a comedy album. Ash-Mohammed was also recently featured in the CBC/TVO documentary Stand Up Toronto which debuted in early 2018 to much acclaim. He has also appeared at the Field Trip Festival, JFL42, and opened for Julio Torres at JFL Montreal.

July 9 – This is Brampton: Live Online

Presented by The Rose Brampton, This is Brampton: Live Online will feature powerful performances for Pride. Tune into The Rose’s Facebook Live at at 7:30 PM.

This is Brampton: Live Online is The Rose Brampton’s weekly online concert series showcasing some of Brampton’s best talent to the world. The series supports local artists by providing them with a platform and professional artist fees. Since it started in April, the series has captured more than 20,000 views, and welcomed audiences from every continent.
