In 2017, Brampton entrepreneur Chantal Carter Taylor launched Canada’s first line of intimates for women of colour, and now she’s marking another huge milestone — a chance to pitch on Dragons’ Den.

Back in 2015 Carter Taylor came up with a solution to the Canadian lingerie industry’s serious lack of variety of “nude” shades for women’s bras and underwear. She launched Love & Nudes, the first boutique of its kind in Canada.

In her research she found 72% of women prefer nude toned bras and underwear over black, white and other colours, but not every woman could find intimates to match their skin tone.

After its launch the company quickly gained traction, getting features in CBCBuzzfeed, The Huffington Post, Ebony, and other media outlets. Its next moment in the spotlight will come with a feature on Dragons’ Den.

Carter Taylor had the opportunity to take Love & Nudes into the Den to pitch the notorious dragons face to face for the upcoming season of the show.

We asked her how it was and she was pumped. “The experience was definitely a real confidence builder. It was nice to realize that the Dragons are just everyday people too,” Carter Taylor said.

Since the show hasn’t aired all of the details are under wraps. We’ll have to wait and see whether she was able to snag an investment from the dragons when the season airs this fall.

Just last year Bramptonian Balbir Sohi pitched the Dragons for an investment in her mobile dental hygiene business Smiles on Wheels. Sohi’s company can provide teeth cleanings on the go, so long as there’s a parking spot. She was able to secure a $250,000 investment on the show.
