A Brampton singer is slated to appear on the second episode of the new Canadian music competition show The Launch.

Divine Lightbody, a high school student at St. Roch Catholic School located in the Chinguacousy Road and Williams Parkway area, is not only a singer but, a multi-instrumentalist. She enjoys genres including R&B, soul, hip-hop, and reggae.

The episode which airs on Wednesday, January 17, is the second episode in the series and Lightbody will compete against four other aspiring artists for the chance to record a hit song.

This week’s judges will include Ryan Tedder, Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter and frontman of One Republic, as well as Jennifer Nettles, country music singer and lead vocalist of the band Sugarland.

The Launch is a new series on CTV where musicians from across Canada compete for the chance to record a hit song with some of the music industry’s top talent. Mentors on the show include Shania Twain, Jennifer Nettles, Nikki Sixx, Fergie, Boy George and even Brampton’s own Alessia Cara.
