Not to years ago, Alessia Cara was singing songs in her bedroom in Brampton and posting them on YouTube. Now she’s set to perform on Canada’s biggest stage alongside some serious Canadian talent.
Brampton’s homegirl will take the stage at the Junos with the likes of The Weekend, Justin Bieber, Bryan Adams and more Canadian talent.
Cara is nominated for four Junos including Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Single of the Year for her hit song Here, which will go up against Drake’s Hotline Bling.
She’s also nominated for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for her debut EP Four Pink Walls and the Juno Fan Choice Award. She stands a pretty good chance of winning them all.
Canadians are tearing up the music scene this year with chart topping hits, Grammys and other awards to boot and Alessia is no exception. Her debut album Know-it-All and subsequent world tour have seen a huge amount of success.
Cara even took the stage alongside Taylor Swift on her 1989 tour and has received a huge amount of praise from industry superstars, including Drake and Lorde.
The Junos kick off Sunday, April 3 at 7 p.m. on CTV.
