Brampton has earned a starring role in Canada’s FIFA World Cup 2026™️ festivities, and the city is gearing up to make it unforgettable.

On April 8, the City of Brampton was officially announced as part of Canada Celebrates the FIFA World Cup™️, with community-wide celebrations planned for the bronze and gold medal matches on July 18 and 19. The announcement positions Brampton as the grand finale of a national celebration tour that stretches coast to coast.

Residents and visitors can look forward to live match screenings, fan experiences, cultural programming, and local business activations throughout the two-day event. All events are free and open to the public, offering accessible opportunities for families and soccer fans of all ages.

The July celebrations are the culmination of months of build-up in the city. The road began in March, when Brampton hosted a community kickoff celebration at City Hall, welcoming homegrown soccer talent and officially launching the City’s Where the Game Grows campaign — a summer of soccer-inspired programming and community activities.

“Brampton has long been a city where soccer lives in our neighbourhoods, parks and communities, and where local talent rises to the national and international stage. Hosting the final stop on this national celebration tour is a proud moment for our city,” said Mayor Patrick Brown.

While not an official FIFA host city, Brampton plays a defining role in Canada’s soccer story. Local fields, community programs, and neighbourhood clubs have long developed elite athletes who go on to represent Canada on the world stage — a legacy that spans both the men’s and women’s national teams.

Regional Councillor Navjit Kaur Brar added: “This celebration will create memorable experiences for residents, support local businesses, and showcase Brampton as a city with energy, diversity and a powerful connection to the world’s game.”

Details on the exact venue and full event programming are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
