June 10, 2024 – The annual “Ride for Raja” event will take place on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Snelgrove Community Centre in Brampton.
This event, organized by the Mandeep Singh Cheema Charitable Foundation (MSCCF), honors Mandeep Singh Cheema, affectionately known as Raja. Raja, who tragically passed away from a motorcycle accident in 2012, was known for his generous spirit and dedication to the community.
The “Ride for Raja” supports vulnerable youth through the Peel Children’s Aid Foundation (Peel CAF). Proceeds will fund programs focusing on mental health, education, and skills development for children and families in the Peel Region.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown praised the event. “Brampton City Council is proud to support the Ride for Raja event. This initiative not only honors the memory of a beloved community member but also significantly contributes to the well-being and future success of our youth through the Peel Children’s Aid Foundation.”
The MSCCF aims to improve the lives of vulnerable youth by promoting positive social activities and post-secondary education. They keep Raja’s memory alive by supporting youth in the foster care system. Their partnership with Peel CAF helps many young people in need.
Peel CAF raises funds for programs that advance mental health, relieve poverty, and promote education and skills development. These programs fill gaps that the government cannot cover, ensuring vulnerable youth have the same opportunities as their peers.
