Brampton’s Epic Christmas Lights Display Gets Turned On This Week

‘Tis the season to shop, enjoy peppermint lattes and take in the copious amounts of holiday markets and lights displays. If you’re extra into the twinkle lights, you won’t be disappointed because Brampton’s lights go on this week and they’re going to be even bigger and better this year.

This weekend, hailed Winter Lights Weekend, is the kickoff to the holiday season in Brampton. The annual tree lighting happens on Friday–the tree will have more than 10,000 lights–and all rest of the thousands of Christmas lights in downtown Brampton go on too.

The lights display will start at Church Street and Main Street, lighting the trees and street lamps all the way down to Ken Whillans Square and Gage Park which will both be lit up to the nines.

As part of the event, there will be letter writing to Santa, a photo booth, ornament making, and a bunch of other events and activities.

Friday is also the first day of the three-day indoor Holiday Pop-Up Shoppe happening inside city hall until Sunday. There will be crafters, artisans and other vendors selling products.

The tree lighting ceremony kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. with the lights expected to turn on soon after, and then the rest of the festivities will begin
