Brampton’s First Covered Outdoor Skating Rink Will Open This Winter

The second phase of construction at Gore Meadows Community Centre is finally complete which means that covered outdoor skating rink is almost ready for the public.

The second phase of the project was officially completed on September 15, adding a bunch of new amenities. The building now has two new pools, one is for leisure and has a slide, and the other is a lane pool that will be able to host competitive swimming events.

It now also has an expanded fitness centre with stationary aerobic equipment and space for fitness classes. The most exciting addition though is the covered outdoor rink. The 8,600 sq. ft. rink with a funky dome is the first of its kind in the city.

The project was originally supposed to open in March of 2017, but because of its complexity and some issues with the past contractor, there were delays.

The city’s outdoor rinks usually open in late November, weather pending, and the covered rink is expected to open with the other trails. An official opening date will be announced closer to winter.
