December 12, 2023 – The countdown to 2024 is on, and the City of Brampton is gearing up for a sensational New Year’s Eve celebration that will also mark the launch of its 50th-anniversary festivities. Residents are invited to ring in the new year at Garden Square with a free concert featuring a stellar lineup of artists, headlined by Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace.
This year’s celebration promises to be extra special as the City commemorates 50 years since its incorporation in 1974. To kick off a year-long celebration of Brampton’s growth and diversity, a series of events, initiatives, and activities are planned throughout 2024.
The festivities on December 31, 2023, will kick off at 7:00 PM in Garden Square, featuring performances by local talents DJ Andre 905, Young Cake, Ajhani Azure, and DuoTang. The evening will also include a set by JUNO Award-winner Keshia Chanté, all hosted by the comedic stylings of Jay Martin.
The highlight of the night will be the headlining performance by Our Lady Peace, a four-time JUNO award-winning rock band. The event will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display at midnight, sponsored by Tim Hortons.
In addition to the entertainment, residents are encouraged to support local businesses by enjoying dinner at Brampton’s renowned restaurants. Brampton Transit will offer free service after 7 PM on New Year’s Eve, ensuring a convenient and safe travel option for revelers.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown expressed his excitement, stating, “New Year’s Eve is always such a fun event in our community, and this year will be extra special as we will be kicking off celebrations for the City of Brampton’s 50th birthday.
