January 19, 2024 – Detectives from the Peel Regional Police Homicide Bureau have made a break in the ongoing case surrounding the tragic death of 18-year-old Nishan Thind in Brampton.
On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 5:45 p.m., a local hospital reported the admission of a male, later identified as Thind, who succumbed to injuries sustained from a gunshot. He had been shot at an undisclosed location and time, then dropped off at the hospital.
On Tuesday, January 9, 2023, police executed a search warrant at a Brampton residence, leading to the arrest of 18-year-old Preetpaul Singh. Singh now faces charges of Accessory After the Fact to Commit an Indictable Offence and is awaiting his court appearance in Brampton.
The alleged shooter, a 16-year-old male from Brampton, is currently wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for Manslaughter. Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.), the identity of the young suspect is protected.
