Every summer the City of Brampton offers free guided bus tours to new residents moving into the city.
The city has offered this award-winning community program since 2009, through a partnership between the Brampton’s recreation division, Brampton Transit and Brampton Library. The tours help new residents become acquainted with the city’s services and programs, and explores some of the city’s popular sites.
The three-hour tour includes a visit to a community centre, where attendees will learn about recreational facilities and the programming they offer. It also explores one of six library branches. The tour is taken on a Brampton Transit bus, and also includes information about how to ride the bus and how to use PRESTO cards.
“These bus tours are an innovative way to welcome new Brampton residents with information on municipal services that support and enrich their day-to-day lives. The hands-on learning and personal touch offered in this program help to make our city a friendlier place for everyone who settles here,” says Mayor Linda Jeffrey.
This year’s tours will take place on August 21 and August 23 and are open to residents who moved to Brampton anytime after January 1, 2015. You can register now by calling the Brampton Library at 905.793.4636, by visiting any Brampton Library branch or online at www.brampton.ca/recreation.
