February 14, 2024 – Dr. Tajinder (Taj) Kaura at Osler’s Urgent Care Centre (UCC) at Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness, is a true healthcare hero.
“I love the fast pace, the energy of the team, and the privilege of taking care of people of all ages when they need us most,” says Dr. Kaura.
The UCC provides care for urgent but non-emergency cases like sprains, cuts, and infections. Dr. Kaura emphasizes the importance of their services, especially during the pandemic.
“It became very clear during the pandemic what an important resource the UCC is for our community,” Dr. Kaura explains.

One local resident, Virgil, expresses his gratitude for Dr. Kaura and the UCC’s expanded hours. When his son needed immediate care, the UCC was there, providing comprehensive services on-site.
“The staff in the UCC were incredibly attentive to our son,” Virgil says, praising the team’s dedication.
Dr. Kaura’s commitment to patient care shines through. He emphasizes kindness and respect, making sure each patient feels valued.
“I give each patient my full attention during the time I am with them, to let them know that I see them and that their care is important to me,” Dr. Kaura shares.
His dedication stems from personal experiences, including memories of translating for his grandparents in medical settings.
Dr. Kaura reflected on his Grandmother: “My Grandmother really wanted me to be a doctor. My Grandmother was a Punjabi speaking woman; she raised us; she lived at home with us. And just yesterday I saw this elderly Punjabi gentleman; and he said to me exactly what my grandmother used to say: ‘good luck, and I’m so proud that we have people who speak our language working in our community.’”
“When people come in, no matter how busy it is, we are truly there to help people,” Dr. Kaura affirms.
Dr. Kaura’s and his colleagues at the UCC serves between 240-270 patients daily, ensuring everyone receives the care they need.
“The UCC fills an essential need in our community for timely access to quality, compassionate care,” Dr. Kaura emphasizes.
His efforts, along with his dedicated team, make a significant impact on the community’s health and well-being.
“We are so fortunate to have 24/7 access to wonderful, dedicated, and compassionate professionals,” Virgil concludes, echoing the sentiments of many grateful patients.
