Toronto Man’s Daring Escape Ends in Firearm Bust After Collision

December 19, 2023 – In a pre-dawn spectacle on Sunday, December 17, 2023, the streets of Brampton witnessed a dramatic two-vehicle collision at the notorious intersection of Steeles Avenue East and Torbram Road. What followed was a heart-pounding chase, a daring escape attempt, and the discovery of a loaded 40 cal Glock pistol in the hands of a 25-year-old Toronto man.

As the clock struck 5:14 a.m., the peace of the early morning was shattered by the screeching metal of the collision which saw one vehicle flipped over. Peel Regional Police raced to the scene, finding themselves in the midst of a gripping showdown. One of the drivers, undeterred by the crash, abandoned his vehicle and attempted a desperate escape on foot. The police, however, were not to be outdone. In a matter of moments, they apprehended the not-so-elusive suspect only a short distance from the collision site.

What they uncovered during the arrest was not just a reckless driver but a loaded 40 cal Glock pistol was seized from the daring escapee, later identified as Adrian Kyle Persad-Orr of Toronto. The crime didn’t end there; investigations revealed that the vehicle Persad-Orr had been recklessly maneuvering had been reported stolen.

The list of charges against Persad-Orr includes Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Operation While Impaired, Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand, Failure to Stop After Accident, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The Brampton community is urged to come forward with any information regarding this incident.
