City Reminding Residents: Fireworks Not Allowed This New Year’s Eve!

December 27, 2023 – In the spirit of safety and community well-being, the City of Brampton wants to remind all residents that the use of fireworks is strictly prohibited. This ban covers everything from buying and selling to display and possession.

What’s Not Allowed?

Consumer fireworks, like roman candles and fountains, display fireworks such as rockets and bombshells, and prohibited fireworks like flying lanterns and M-80s are all off-limits.

Why the Ban?

Safety is the priority. The ban aims to reduce the risk of fires, injuries, and property damage while also cutting down on air pollution, excessive noise, and protecting animal habitats.

Penalties for Non-Compliance:

  • Discharge or possession without a permit: $500.00
  • Selling, distributing, or displaying fireworks: $1,000.00
  • Permit violation on private property: $500.00
  • Failure to comply with an order: $1,000.00

The City can issue court summonses, with fines ranging from $500.00 to a whopping $100,000.00. Remember, property owners may face charges if fireworks are discharged from their private property.
