With heavy rain moving across Southern Ontario through Sunday night, Local conservation authorities have issued a flood warning for Brampton and the rest of Peel Region.

Up to 40 centimetres of rain is expected to fall, and Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), the authority that oversees waterways in Brampton, says residents should be cautious.

TRCA said in its advisory that rivers and streams in Brampton and the rest of the GTA will likely experience higher than usual water and that it could result in flooding and dangerous conditions.

TRCA’s flood outlook is in effect into Monday. Water levels are expected to go down throughout the day. The TRCA says residents should exercise caution around bodies of water and to keep away from slippery and dangerous banks.
