A 26-year old Hamilton man is in custody after making a bomb threat aboard a westbound GO bus headed from Guelph to Square One on Saturday morning.

The double-decker bus was travelling along Highway 407 in Mississauga when a female passenger reported the threat to the bus driver. A man had approached the woman and claimed to have an explosive.

According to Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins, the driver took the threat very seriously and followed the necessary protocol by alerting the OPP and dispatch immediately.

After a brief negotiation, 15 passengers as well as the driver were allowed to exit the bus to safety. Police continued to negotiate with the suspect who eventually surrendered.

The OPP investigated but no explosives were found. Justin Roache, 28, has been charged with one count of mischief for the incident.
