Jazz has made a resurgence in Brampton. Last year, World of Jazz, a new weekend-long festival, kicked off in the city and ever since the local scene has grown.
While the city doesn’t have any dedicated jazz bars, there are still a few places you can enjoy quality jazz music.
Tuesday nights: J. Red & Co
J. Red & Co (341 Main Street S) not only has $1 oysters, half off select bottles of wine, and all you can eat mussels, they also have live jazz every Tuesday night.
Friday nights: Wendel Clarks’s
Joe’s Jazz Jam goes down every Friday night at Wendel Clark’s (36 Main Street N). From 9 p.m. to midnight enjoy some groovin’ jazz, drinks, and a delicious meal. If you think you want to jam with the band, email frank@b-jazzed.ca for more details on how to apply.
Sunday nights: Jazz @ J. Red
Check out various duos and trios for your entertainment at J. Red & Co. every Sunday night from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Expect acoustic jazz, swing, and timeless pop standards. Pair that with delicious food and drinks, and you’re in for a great evening.
Friday at Wendel Clark’s and Sunday’s Jazz @ J. Red are both put together by B-Jazzed, the organizers of Brampton’s World of Jazz festival. Speaking of the festival, The World of Jazz Festival is back for another year for September 7 and 8. It kicks off on the 7th with Michael Kaeshammer at the Rose Theatre.
