Construction on the 410 has been ongoing for quite a while, leaving commuters and residents wondering when exactly it’s going to end.

The Ministry of Transportation has been working on the 410 since 2014, with the highway expected to receive one general purpose lane as well as an HOV lane in both the northbound and southbound directions.

The construction stretches from Queen Street on the 410 all the way to Eglinton Avenue on the 403, most days leading to longer commute times and delays for commuters.

The general purpose lanes in both directions opened last year, and now it appears the construction company is finally painting the markings for the HOV lanes. In other words, the end is finally in sight. The project’s expected completion date is this fall, so in just a short couple of months, assuming no delays, they should be open to the public.

In addition to the new lanes, two commuter lots are also being built, one at Courtneypark Drive and one at Clark Boulevard, as well as the installation of traffic cameras and new wall barriers and medians.

At this time there are nightly lane closures on the 410 in both directions, as well as on-ramps to and from the 410 and the 401 to allow for paving to take place.

Stay tuned, because the finished product should be operational this Fall.
