Brampton will likely have another COVID-19 assessment centre soon, thanks in large part to Peel Public Health and Trillium Health Partners.
So far, there is only one assessment centre in Brampton located at Peel Memorial Centre. That may change soon with a second location considered at South Fletcher’s Sportsplex community centre, the location of which has been confirmed by Mayor Patrick Brown and Dr. Lawrence Loh, Peel Region Interim Officer of Health.
“I know that discussions continue around a second assessment centre in Brampton,” said Dr. Loh. “It is certainly something that is a critical part of our response in terms of testing and assessment to make sure we are able to identify cases in our community, and also disrupt the transmission by investigating their contacts once that information comes to light.”
As of now, there are only five assessment centres in the Region of Peel with three in Mississauga and one in Caledon, and there are plans to open more assessment centres throughout Peel soon.
