Movin’ Cool (B. Magic and Noyz) released ‘Investigative Reports’, inspired by the GZA track of the same name. Noyz explains:
“Inspired by the GZA track of the same name, ‘Investigative Reports’ discusses police biases against racialized communities, and the negative impact the media can have in propagating stereotypes and spreading false information,” says noyz.
“The universality of the message is reflected in the backgrounds of all participants on the track. Rhymes are handled by B Magic (Norway) and Noyz (Brampton), while westcoast turntablist doc bLAdez (LA) provides cuts and scratches throughout. Production and live instrumentation comes courtesy of Juno-nominated Satnam Singh Chatha (UK).”
Both Magic and Noyz deliver thought-provoking and poignant lyrics layered on top of a classic and haunting boom-bap beat provided by Satnam Singh Chatha. Not only is this song a criticism of the police attitudes towards racialized communities, but also a criticism of false media narratives.
