Nominations are open for Brampton Citizen’s Awards. You can nominate someone of exemplary character and accomplishment to receive one of these awards, presented by the City of Brampton.
Winners are ordinary people making extraordinary contributions to their communities, from visionary artists, selfless volunteers, accomplished athletes or heroic residents.
The Citizen’s Award is a prestigious recognition and has been an annual Brampton tradition since 1974.
Here are the categories:
- Arts Acclaim Award
- Emergency Services Award of Valour
- Long Term Service Award
- Sports Achievement Award
- Ken Giles Athlete of the Year Award
- Youth Citizen of the Year Award
- Volunteer Citizen of the Year Award
- Senior Citizen of the Year Award
The award ceremony for those being presented with the award for outstanding achievements in the calendar year of 2019 is scheduled for May 2020.
A selection committee evaluating nominations will comprise community members with subject matter expertise in these categories. They include elected city officials and representatives from the Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Brampton Sports Alliance, Brampton Seniors Council and Peel Regional Police.
