Yesterday, the City of Brampton officially renamed Northampton Park to Northrup Park, in honour and remembrance of a Brampton resident, Police Constable Jeffrey Northrup.

Constable Northrup was tragically killed in the line of duty on July 2, 2021.

“On behalf of the Toronto Police Service, I want to thank the City of Brampton for this tribute to our fallen officer, Detective Constable Jeff Northrup,” said Toronto Police Chief, James Ramer. “This park, that will bear his name, will honour his memory and remind people of the value of public service. I am hopeful it will also serve as a place of pride and happiness for his family, friends and the Brampton community.”

“I share my deepest condolences with Constable Northrup’s family and friends and am honoured to be  part of this park renaming that will serve as a reminder of his exemplified leadership and sacrifice,” said Mayor Patrick Brown. “I hope as his family and friends visit this park, they remember him and keep his memory alive.”
